The Problem

Airports have evolved everywhere except where travelers rest.

"You're stuck at an airport. Your flight is delayed. Lounges are full. Nearby hotels are sold out, expensive or off-site. Now what?"

Long layovers & delays

Delayed or cancelled flights, overnight connections and early departures leave travelers with nowhere private to recover.

Inefficient alternatives

Traditional airport hotels sit outside security; lounges aren't built for sleep; public seating is noisy and uncomfortable.

Mounting airport pressure

Operators must raise satisfaction scores, grow non-aeronautical revenue and activate underused terminal space.

An unmet category

The result is a large, structural gap between passenger needs and airport commercial offerings: Hubotel's opportunity.

"I was stranded in Madrid for 6 hours recently and had to sleep on a bench. If there had been a cabin, I would have booked it right away."Mehdi (27), international student
Market Opportunity

A large, fast-growing market with structural tailwinds.

Structural tailwind

Delays and capacity pressure keep building.

~24%European flights delayed, 2025
57.5MBCN-El Prat passengers, above capacity

Nearly a quarter of European flights ran late in 2025 (Eurocontrol), and several major hubs, including Barcelona, already operate above rated capacity. Both trends increase, not decrease, demand for in-terminal rest.

For the airport

Higher non-aeronautical revenue, increased dwell time, better crowd flow during disruptions, and real-time usage data for operations.

For the passenger

A private, quiet space to rest or work, live flight updates in-cabin, and no need to leave the terminal or hunt for a crowded lounge.

For airline partners

Sleep & Fly packages let airlines pre-purchase cabin hours for delayed or long-haul passengers as a service upgrade.

Built to scale

Modular, compact and rapidly deployable, designed from day one for replication across multiple airports.

Risks & Mitigations

We believe in showing the full picture.

Tender & concession risk

Participation in AENA's tender does not guarantee award.MitigationThe model and pod technology are airport-agnostic, so Hubotel can pursue parallel discussions with other airports rather than depending on a single outcome.

Construction & delivery risk

Modular pods are manufactured off-site with multi-week lead times.MitigationBuild timelines are planned with buffer against confirmed manufacturer delivery windows, and fit-out partners are selected for proven fast-turnaround experience in similar environments.

Capital intensity

Airport infrastructure requires upfront investment ahead of revenue.MitigationModular construction keeps per-pod investment at roughly a tenth of traditional hotel-room development, with largely fixed costs shared across all pods.

Competitive response

Established players such as YotelAir and Napcabs could expand into Hubotel's positioning.MitigationTechnology-led differentiation, premium sustainable design and speed of deployment support a first-mover advantage in each terminal.

FAQ

Common investor questions.

What stage is Hubotel at today?
Pre-seed. The team has direct institutional experience through participation in AENA's official tender for Barcelona-El Prat, and is now formalizing financial, operational and banking infrastructure ahead of pilot deployment.
What happens if the AENA tender isn't awarded?
The operating model and pod technology are airport-agnostic. Hubotel is designed to be pitched to any major hub airport, so a single tender outcome does not define the company's future.
Is there a minimum investment?
No fixed minimum. We're open to a single strategic lead or a syndicate of several smaller investors.
What's the exit horizon?
Realistic routes include acquisition by an airport operator, hospitality group or travel-infrastructure platform once the model is proven across multiple airports, typically a multi-year horizon for infrastructure-style hospitality ventures. This is directional, not a guarantee.
Who else is involved?
Active discussions with Rabobank Corporate Finance on banking and guarantee facilities, a supply partnership with COCO-MAT for mattresses, and collaboration with Cabins Hotel Amsterdam on compact-hospitality operations.
